yesterday I was accused of being a sexist .. well it was a remark made from a judgment panel member after I gave a public speech about a social issue (increasing number of divorce cases in our society) , that included other speakers as well who also were somehow labeled sexists.
Alright.
I have my moments , when I give the wrong idea , I hit it to the right and it will go to the left , that’s ok , but to be accused of exactly the opposite of my intention AND the content of my speech is unfair ,I mentioned specific examples of BOTH female and male responsibility .
maybe on a subconscious level we are affected by the social ambience we are in , but the scary thing is that you can not control it and the label/stereotype will stick to you, even though you don’t subscribe to it .
so here on this blog I announce that I am a liberal person who support wholeheartedly women rights and gender equality , on all levels of society , I apologize for any hint that means otherwise , either written on this blog or in my personal life.
is that enough??

No it isn’t enough. You can’t just not become racist, bigoted, sexist, etc just by saying you aren’t. You have to defend and explain your actions/words and allow people to judge what your intent really was.
Society is itself is extremely sexist and often times members of society do not realize they are sexist when they still are.
How many times have you had sexual intercourse and only focused on your pleasure? How many times have you gotten a raise while your female co-workers gets less, and never said anything?

Hi Steven ,
I think it all boils down to what you identify yourself with .if you choose to express yourself a certain way people should not judge you based on any thing other than your words and actions , and that’s what bothered me about this incident.
your point about people not realizing their prejudices is very accurate though.
